FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Loverboy replacing Howie Mandel in Kansas State Fair line-up

The Kansas State Fair announced today TV talkshow host/comedian Howie Mandel will be unable to perform at the Kansas State Fair due to a change in his television filming schedule. The Fair has secured the classic rock act Loverboy to fill the Thursday, Sept. 16 date.

"When you book a performer such as Howie who is involved in so many things, there’s always the risk that one of their other interests will conflict with tour plans. We're excited Loverboy was available and willing to fill this date," said General Manager Denny Stoecklein. "As an added bonus for our fairgoers, we will be offering the Loverboy show as a free concert.”

Admission to the Sprint Grandstand for the 7:30 p.m. Loverboy concert will be free with your paid outside gate admission to the Fair.

Those who purchased Howie Mandel tickets should bring their tickets in or mail them to the Fair’s ticket office at 2000 N. Poplar St., Hutchinson, 67502 for a refund. Or, instead of a refund, the tickets can be exchanged for another concert or for outside gate admission, carnival ride tickets, and/or meal tickets.

For questions on refunds or exchanges, contact the Kansas State Fair Ticket Office at 800-362-3247 or 620-669-3618. The ticket office will be open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Loverboy - Thursday, Sept. 16 - FREE concert, 7:30 p.m.
Loverboy formed in Toronto, Canada, in 1980 with band members Mike Reno, vocalist; Paul Dean, guitarist; Scott Smith, bassist; Doug Johnson, keyboardist; and Matthew Frenette, drummer. Later that same year and with the help of producer Bruce Fairbairn, Loverboy released its self-titled debut album. The album went platinum in both Canada and America and featured the hard-rocking singles “Turn Me Loose” and “The Kid is Hot Tonight.” Its follow-up album, Get Lucky, was released in 1981 and included the anthemic “Working for the Weekend.” Loverboy’s 1983 release, Keep It Up, featured the hit single “Hot Girls in Love.” In 1985, the group released Lovin’ Every Minute of It with producer Tom Allom (Judas Priest). Allom gave the band a harder edge on this platinum album. Fairbairn returned as the producer for the group’s fifth album, Wildside, which was released in 1987. After a two-year tour, the band returned to Canada to release in 1989 its greatest hits album, Big Ones. That same year, Reno and Dean announced plans to make solo records, which put an end to the group. The reunited lineup returned in 1997 to release the album Loverboy XI. Most recently, the band released their greatest hits album, The Real Thing, in 2009. For more information on Loverboy, please visit www.loverboyband.com.
